A Local to Global Imperative: Powering Personal and Societal Transformation Through Education for Sustainable Development
Sheridan College’s role as a partner in the recently established Peel Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) on Education for Sustainable Development comes at a time when it’s recognized post-secondary institutions need to play a central role in helping to resolve growing interlinked social, environmental, and economic crises. Post-secondary institutions throughout the world are engaged in advancing Education for Sustainable Development at a local level and through international collaboration, including engagement with and action on the Sustainable Development Goals. How are post-secondary institutions empowering learners to develop the competencies for environmental integrity, equitable economic viability, and a just society while also helping them fulfil their own potential? How is this interdisciplinary work supporting transcultural values and practices as well as the development of critical global citizens? The webinar includes speakers from three post-secondary institutions engaged as partners in Regional Centres of Expertise throughout the world who will address these and related themes and explain how their institutions are carrying out this critical work.
International Education Week
Every year since 2001, individuals, schools, colleges, universities, businesses, and governments all around the world have been celebrating the International Education Week during the third week of November. This week marks a chance for institutions around the world to celebrate, promote and discuss the importance of international and global education and serves as a catalyst for building understanding and collaboration across and between institutions.
The Centre for Global Education and Internationalization (CGEI) is hosting a series of webinars to celebrate international education; raise awareness and share knowledge and experiences; rethink our practices; and mobilize forces to contribute for a more sustainable and equitable world through international education. These webinars will offer an opportunity for our community to engage with renowned national and international experts, scholars, and practitioners.
