Dr Konstantinou leads a programme of independent, interdisciplinary research on the politics of the self, in connection to ethics, professionalism and Grand Challenges at UCL. Her work builds connections across a) existentialist philosophy and the human condition; b) the sociology of the professions and senior leaders as agents of professionalism; and c) Critical Management Studies and the power of expert labour. She has received awards by the British Academy of Management and the University-Industry Interaction Network for her work. Dr Konstantinou is Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK and Chair of the Knowledge and Learning Special Interest Group and founder the Post-Experience Education Working Group at the British Academy of Management. She serves on the Research Advisory Group for the Association for Project Management and publishes reports for project management associations across the world. Her latest research projects focused on the ethical dilemmas that senior leaders and experts face in addressing Grand Challenges (funded by the APM) and on how project management practices change in projects addressing Grand Challenges (funded by the PMI). In parallel to her doctoral studies (PhD awarded with no corrections, University of Stirling, Scotland), she worked on the interdisciplinary, £5.5M ESRC/EPSRC Grand Challenges project ‘Immortal Information and Through-Life Knowledge Management (IITKM): Strategies and Tools for the Emerging Product-Service Paradigm’. Effie subsequently joined the interdisciplinary Centre for Performance at Work at City University London where she led research bids with industrial partners and impact activities spanning across the academia and industry internationally. Kristina is the ESG Lead for Sizewell C (SZC) project – a proposed new nuclear power station to be built on the Suffolk coast. Kristina has 15 years’ ESG experience for both private and public sector.  Her previous roles included a climate and environment sector lead for the U.S. Department of Commerce at the U.S. Embassy in London, supporting the U.S. diplomatic mission by advising on key issues in her portfolio of industries. She led high profile commercial diplomacy and advocacy cases, advised on key policy issues, and led the U.S. Department of Commerce’s climate and environmental initiatives such as COP26 engagements.   Kristina was previously an Associate in the Energy and Sustainability team of built-environment consultancy AECOM. Having worked as a project manager for more than a decade in male-dominated industries, mostly within railway and construction, Anita was used to being the only woman in the room. After becoming a manager, she started to notice how gender was relevant around here – as well as the lack of senior female role models to help navigate the path. She realised most women she spoke to in the profession had their own story of how their gender meant a harder road with more obstacles, and that there were different challenges for diverse women. She conducted research with 100 women in project management and found the common challenges were being heard, being taken seriously and felt they missed out on equitable opportunities. She shaped her work to support individuals and businesses to deconstruct these barriers. Anita is a dissenter who challenges the status quo to put humanity, and equity at the heart of projects and beyond. Yet Anita fiercely champions and advocates for diverse women and those who’ve felt they ‘miss-fit’ at work, so that they are able to embrace their misfit and that project outcomes are better. This combination of experience, background and skills puts her in a position where she is able to deliver transformational inclusion outcomes effectively within male dominated project environments. Using coaching and facilitation skills, with a compassionate yet challenging nature, she is able to support leaders to change ways of thinking, upskilling their understanding of inclusion, and translating this into courageous action - so that they are able to embed equitable inclusive structures.
