He holds a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from Bandung Institute of Technology, which gave him a deep knowledge on sustainable cities. Within his role, Haley’s responsibility included planning and developing recommendation policy, budget allocation, monitoring and evaluation related agencies on urban parks and environment in Jakarta. The output mainly gathers into the Jakarta Capital City Government Working Plan annually and as inputs to the Jakarta Spatial Plan. Johan Verlinde is a climate adaptation and sustainability expert, currently serving as the program director for Climate Adaptation at the City of Rotterdam. He holds a master’s degree in hydrology and urban water management from the Technical University Delft, which has equipped him with a deep understanding of water management in urban areas. In his role as program director, Johan is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the “Rotterdam Weatherwise” Climate Adaptation Plan. This plan is aimed at preparing the city for severe climate hazards, such as heavy rainfall, flooding, heatwaves, and drought, by collaborating with citizens, private sector, social housing corporations, water boards and citizens. Johan’s expertise lies in devising innovative climate adaptive measures in public spaces, where space is scarce. He recognizes the importance of climate-proofing the private space, which will become increasingly critical in the future. Johan’s contribution extends beyond Rotterdam, as he is an active participant in various international cooperations such as C40, where he shares and gains knowledge on climate adaptation. He was a fellow of the PUB Singapore Water Academy from 2019 to 2021.

Lisanne completed a master’s degree in neuroscience and has gained extensive research experience in various labs, focused on the role of the brain in psychopathology in adolescents. As part of her doctoral work, she gained expertise in multimodal family research, where she particularly focused on identifying (dysfunctional) neural mechanisms underlying social evaluations and self-views from a parent-adolescent perspective using ecologically valid functional MRI tasks, which may relate to (daily) parent-adolescent interactions as well as adolescent depression. Currently, Lisanne works as a postdoctoral researcher within Prof. dr. Neeltje van Haren’s lab at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry/Psychology Unit of Erasmus MC Sophia Children’s hospital. She is involved in both the FAMILY consortium and PANDA-study, to investigate the risk for and resilience against intergenerational transmission of psychopathology in high-risk offspring from a (perinatal) neurodevelopmental perspective. Lisanne co-coordinates an open science course for PhD students and a minor child and adolescent psychiatry for medical students.

Jan Nouwen was born on July 22nd 1963. After finishing Medical School (Erasmus University Rotterdam & Erasmus MC, University Medical Center Rotterdam) in January 1989, he was trained in Internal Medicine and subsequently Infectious Diseases. Since 1999 he is a full staff member of the departments of Medical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine – Infectious Diseases section. He obtained a MSc degree in Clinical Epidemiology in August 2000 and finished his PhD on ‘Determinants, Risks and Dynamics of Staphylococcus aureus nasal carriage’ in December 2004. For his research he was awarded the GSK ICAAC Award in 2004 and the ICAAC Program Committee Award in 2005. Subsequent research has focused on MRSA eradication (Center of Expertise ‘MRSA-eradication’ Erasmus MC; SWAB committee ‘Treatment of MRSA carriage’) as well as HIV and Tuberculosis in research-poor settings. Since 2007 he is the trainer in Infectious Diseases as a subspecialisation in Internal Medicine Specialization at Erasmus MC and since 2008 he is the Program Director of the Researchmaster Infection & Immunity. He designed the curriculum in such way to facilitate collaboration with third parties. When Erasmus MC allowed for the minor programs to be done in foreign countries he created the minor Global Health. Within this program, more than 100 medical students are sent out to foreign partners every year. In addition, he is the chairman of the Research Master programs at the Grad School Erasmus MC. He is very much involved in curriculum development, curriculum innovation (including e-learning and serious gaming initiatives) and internationalization of education, including Erasmus MC’s Global Health Summer School and Minor Global Health (in collaboration with educational and research institutes in the USA, Brazil, Cuba, Ecuador, Suriname, Denmark, Sweden, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Iran, Oman, Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Australia and Japan). For his efforts in medical education he received the ‘teacher of the year award’ in 2004. Currently, the main emphasis is on developing a global network of research education and academic training programs, building a global research infrastructure: ‘Better Together’. With some other European medical schools he is developing a joint research master and uses Erasmus+ funding to start and expand those education collaborations worldwide.
