Social Investment Scotland

Social Investment Scotland (SIS) was established in 2001 to provide a new finance model for Scotland’s charities and social enterprises. Since then, SIS has invested over £100 million.

Point and Sandwick Trust

Point and Sandwick Trust is a Scottish social enterprise that promotes and funds community projects in the villages of Point and Sandwick on the Isle of Lewis. The Trust built and operates the UK’s biggest community wind farm, Beinn Ghrideag, one of the most successful income generators in the Western Isles. The £14 million project is 100% community owned and currently produces £800,000 a year in net income for the local community. Once capital costs have been repaid, it is expected to generate £2 million a year for support of projects in and around the local area.
