Joe Tilley is currently a Programs Research Manager at Center for Responsive Schools. He received his Bachelor of Science from Middle Tennessee State University, Master of Science from the University of Memphis, and Doctor of Education from Middle Tennessee State University. He has taught special education in kindergarten through eighth grade in various metropolitan districts, including Memphis, Atlanta, and Nashville.

Jeanne Ziobro

As the Chief Product Officer at PATHS Program LLC, Jeanne Ziobro steers the development, training, and implementation support for the company's suite of PK-12 SEL curricula. Before joining PATHS Program LLC, Jeanne taught STEM and engineering classes at the high school level and effectively integrated SEL into her curriculum. Jeanne, an engineer by education, also worked in software, business, and product development. She'll walk attendees through a live demonstration of Emozi® High School during this session.

Way back before we had the term SEL, I was one of the authors/ educators/ scholars championing this work. I lead the world's first and largest nonprofit dedicated to emotional intelligence, coauthored 6 SEL assessments, 5 books and multiple programs... and am adjunct faculty at Columbia Teacher's College and Antioch University -- which is one of the only EdD with SEL programs in the world.

She began her career in the DC metro area, both teaching in the classroom and developing curriculum. There, for 15 years she led students to strengthen creative habits of mind through art education. Ellie believes deeply in student-centered instruction and fostering students’ social-emotional growth to prepare them to be contributing innovators of the future.

She has decades of experience leading curriculum, instruction and assessment initiatives at the state, district, and school levels. Ms. Essenmacher draws on a wealth of knowledge and skill to be an adept facilitator in leading initiatives.

Michelle Benson has a wide range of experience as a facilitator and developer of professional development for K-8 educators. Prior to becoming a Chief at the Center for Responsive Schools, she served as a Responsive Classroom professional development designer and full-time consultant working with educators and school districts throughout the United States and the international school community. She began her education career as a middle school English/language arts teacher and served as a secondary curriculum specialist for eight years in a rural school district in North Carolina. Her passion for education has been ensuring all students receive a high-quality education through excellent teaching and learning. Michelle aims to inspire, empower, and transform teachers to understand students’ power and balance of academic, social, and emotional learning.

Jim Vetter

Education Development Center (EDC), Assoc. Dir. of Health & Technology

Jim Vetter has over 25 years of experience supporting communities across the United States and around the world in promoting social and emotional learning (SEL) and well-being. With deep knowledge of interactive online and in-person training and coaching strategies, he provides leadership and guidance to a range of EDC initiatives. Vetter serves as an SEL and bullying prevention subject matter expert for the Children’s Safety Network at EDC, supporting state health departments nationally. In co-leading technical assistance for EDC’s Social and Emotional Learning & Mental Health Academy, he helps Massachusetts schools and districts promote students’ SEL and mental health well-being, using a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) approach. As a member of EDC’s Rapid Assessment and Action Planning team, he coaches numerous communities across the country around effective implementation of evidence-based SEL and mental health supports. Vetter is on the leadership team of the Social-Emotional Learning Alliance for the United States (SEL4US). Previously, he directed suicide and youth violence prevention programs at the Virginia Department of Health. Vetter holds an EdM from Harvard University.
